1) What does a dramaturg do? How does it relate to the work of a critic? (In other words, what do the dramaturg and critic do that is similar?)
2) Discuss two reasons that the arts are important.
3) There is always a REASON for writing a play. Discuss two possible purposes of a play.
4) Name three things that you should do (or not do) when attending a theatrical performance in person.
5) Read through the written instructions for the critique assignments this semester. Go through the list of recorded stage productions for your critique assignment. List a recorded stage production that you would have access to and would like to see. (If there’s something that’s not on this list that you would like to watch for this assignment, list it here, make a note that it’s not on the list and I’ll get back to you about it whether it is appropriate for this assignment or not. )
6) Find a live theatre performance in this area you would like to see this semester. List the theatre, the play and the dates of the performances here. How did you find it?
