Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to explore a field of social work practice and develop an understanding of the populations served, the roles of social workers, the values that guide practice, and evidence-informed interventions. Students will also reflect on their own professional interests, strengths, and areas for continued development as future social workers. This assignment supports students' understanding of generalist social work practice and aligns with CSWE Competencies 1, 3, 4, and 6. Assignment Instructions
Students will select one field of social work practice that interests them or one in which they would like to learn more.
Examples include: Family Services, Victim Services, or Child Welfare
Within the selected field, students should narrow their focus to a specific client population, issue, or practice area.
