ASSIGNMENT BRIEF
Context
The Managing Director of a local organisation has contracted you, as a sustainability expert, to help the organisation understand how it might better manage its sustainability. The organisation has previously been engaged in environmental management including pollution control, waste management etc. but is now looking to update its practices to encompass broader organisational sustainability issues.

Task 1 – Briefing senior staff on organisational sustainability
To ensure that all senior managers have a common understanding of organisational sustainability and what it might mean for the organisation, the Managing Director has asked you to prepare a presentation for the next senior staff briefing. You will be required to circulate your slides to staff attending the meeting. You should also produce a supplementary handout to give out at the meeting.

Your presentation should:

AC 1.1 Analyse current issues in relation to sustainability in organisations
AC 1.2 Provide an assessment of key sustainability issues affecting the organisation
AC 2.1 Analyse the effect of legislation, regulation, and guidance on the sustainability of organisations
AC 2.2 Your presentation prompts some lively discussion amongst the senior staff at the meeting, especially in relation to the ethics of sustainability. They are keen to improve their management of organisational sustainability, but are wondering what the impact on the organisation might be. The Managing Director has asked you to produce a briefing document that assesses how operating ethically can impact on organisations and their stakeholders
