This unit will provide a guide on the step-by-step approach students and individuals can take to excel in their studies and professional practice. It focuses on developing academic skills like reflective and critical thinking abilities which are essential for personal and academic development.
Our study abilities will develop and grow via comprehension, continuous practice, introspection, trial and error and accepting feedback from others (Stella Cottrell-2016). Through this course, learners will develop the skills they need to excel in academic endeavours at the higher education level.

To complete the requirement of task 1.1 you are required to develop a portfolio that must outline your academic study skills. In this portfolio, describe the motivation behind each skill you have acquired and the process through which you developed it. Further, in each annotation, briefly summarise the main findings from the source by focusing on the most important points that relate to the topic. This could include the source’s purpose, main arguments, any key insights etc.
2.2 Explain the process by which you can identify relevant sources for an academic piece of work
Whereas, in task 2.2 you are required to describe the steps you followed to find credible, relevant sources for your academic research. To address this you can discuss which reliable online resources you assessed to get a broad understanding of the topic, which research-specific tools you used, how you assessed the reliability and academic importance of each source etc along with covering other steps to gather high-quality sources for academic work.

3.1 Evaluate the quality of the research article provided

For task 3.2, you have to explain how the findings you identified in task 2.1 are applicable to the field of health and social care practice. Use those findings and explain how they could potentially improve health and social care outcomes. You can also discuss the specific ways these findings might be applied by the health care professionals to enhance patient satisfaction, care delivery, decision making etc.
