General Guidelines – All assignments are expected to be 2-3 pages typed and double-spaced using a 12-point font. Include a single-spaced heading with Full Name, Date, Course Title, and Course Assignment. Submit the paper through the Assignment link on WebCampus. Points will be deducted for late assignments. Assignments are expected to be original and authentic. When citing factual evidence and/or paraphrasing factual material, the facts must be cited within text using APA format to cite references. Also include a Works Cited page at the end of the paper. Wikipedia will not be accepted as a reliable source and the paper will be returned.
Topic Choices (Select one of the bulleted topics to explore.):
How do such topics as: health care, nutrition, mental health, food security, poverty, urban planning, or other global issue connect to the UN Sustainable Development Agenda and goals? Choose between one and three of these topics to further explore in your paper. These should be different than your Critical Reaction Paper One. You may expand on a topic you began on the discussion board, but should not repeat the same thoughts without supporting your statements with research. You may also use the questions that were noted in the syllabus as guiding questions.
Recalling Culture/culture in UNIV 2001, you might consider how material landscapes and cultural practices (sustainability and human rights) are collectively a part of “petrocultures”—in other words, how are our “Culture” & “culture” shaped by the material reality of petroleum-based energy distribution and extraction that itself changes our material environment?
Peace Studies is addressed by several authors and documentaries in UNIV 2002. How does Peace Studies offer a way of reading or understanding sustainability and human rights?
How do Peace Studies, Human Rights, and/or sustainability relate to your intended major? It may seem that Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, or Nursing are practical and unrelated areas of study (in comparison to History, Political Science, or Literature that more overtly address such topics); however, the CORE courses have shown all these disciplines as more related than we might think. How do the challenges of UNIV 2002 for these topics figure in your own future and your studies, whether overt or implicit? They may shape your goals, but just as importantly, how will your life after your studies indirectly contribute (or hinder) peace, rights, and sustainability?
You may use the resources from our units and videos and an outside resource as well to connect. You must use at least two references, at least one from the readings and/or videos, and the additional one can be outside if you wish. This is mostly a reaction paper to the information you present in your argument, therefore, if you use personal examples/experiences, be detailed and share the specifics to support your statements.
    Guidelines for the Paper
Interpretation – This is, the introduction to your paper. You will explain your topic and introduce your thesis and topic in one or two paragraphs.
Analysis and Presentation of your Argument – This will be the largest section of your paper. You will give a full analysis of the situation and present a strong argument about it. You may use your reading as a reference if appropriate, but mostly your personal interpretation is the key for this paper. You may present both sides of the argument if you wish.
Evaluation – The “Evaluation” section provides an opportunity to critically examine the facts and/or arguments used. Evaluate the situation, examples. You also can present the other side of the argument if you choose and tell which side you believe would be strongest. You may use outside sources, (they do not have to be scholarly or peer reviewed for these reaction papers) remembering you must give citations and a reference or Works Cited list in MLA.
Summarize – Give a Final Summary of your thoughts. This section will be a couple of paragraphs.

You will also be graded on your use of APA style and on your application of nursing journals into the treatments and interventions. For integrating nursing journals, remember the following: apa style double spaced one of the pages Make sure to integrate citations into all of your paper Support all claims of what the disease is, why it occurs, and how to treat it with references to the literature on this disease Always use citations for information that you learned from a book or article; if you do not cite it, you are telling your reader that YOU discovered that information (how to treat the disease, etc.)

For this assignment, create a 10-12 slide presentation that reflects your decision and decision-making process. Your presentation should reflect the following: Slide 1: Title Slide: Include your name, presentation title, and date. Slide 2: Initial Reaction: Briefly outline your initial reaction to the dilemma. Which project would you instinctively choose and why? Slide 3: Identify Cognitive Distortions: Reflect on your initial reaction and identify any cognitive distortions that might be influencing your decision. Are you leaning towards one project because of personal bias, emotional reasoning, or overgeneralization? Note these down. Slide 4: Gather Information: Research two to three potential impacts of each project (minimum 1 valid source for each impact that you think may be relevant for this hypothetical case). Consider factors such as: The number of people benefited and the nature of the benefits. The long-term implications for the community center and the community at large. Any possible negative consequences or trade-offs of choosing one project over the other. Slide 5: Evaluate Evidence: Based on the information gathered, evaluate the evidence for and against each project. Use critical thinking to assess the validity and relevance of the information. Consider the reliability of the sources and the possibility of confirmation bias in your evaluation process. Slide 6: Consider Different Perspectives: Reflect on how different segments of the community might view each project. How would prioritizing one project over the other affect various groups, including children, elderly community members, people with disabilities, and low-income families? Slide 7: Make a Decision: Based on your critical analysis, decide which project you believe should be prioritized. Justify your decision with a reasoned argument, incorporating the evidence you have evaluated and the different perspectives you have considered. Slide 8: Summary: Brief overview of the final decision Slide 9: Reflect on the Process: Reflect on how the process of critical thinking has influenced your decision-making. Were there any assumptions you had to challenge? Did you change your opinions after recognizing your own cognitive distortions and/or researching credible evidence and valid arguments? How did considering different perspectives and evaluating evidence help you make a more informed decision? Slide 10: Cite Sources: Cite all sources used here in identifying the potential impacts of each project. This should be a total of 4 to 6 sources. Your presentation should be able to stand on its own, meaning that it should be clear even if you are not there to answer questions. However, it does not mean that you should use a lot of dense text. Try to be brief and clear, you may use the notes section to elaborate your points further to avoid slides having too much text. Use images to support your point. Make it look professional.
