Based only on the proposal for your group of choice to start in a substance abuse agency and the type/topic area you chose and the elements you included in your proposal, put together a minimum power point presentation of a minimum of 15 slides with an additional cover page and reference page (theses are separate) There should a minimum of 17u slides. The power point presentation is due on July 24, 2024in the drop box by 5:00 pm.

T=You will be graded on the following:

1.    Group Theme: What is your group about? Discuss the special topic/issues it will be designed around.  

2.    Create a flyer advertising the group start and number of sessions (10), and place, contact person etc.

3.    Setting: Discuss the type of agency or organization in which the group will be taking place.

4.    Population: The demographics you are serving? (e.g., age, gender, ethnicity, race, SES, ability, etc.) Be specific – is the group homogenous or heterogenous in its composition?

5.    Rationale: Why is this particular themed group needed and also appropriate for 2, 3, and 4? Have a clear and convincing rationale for your group.

6.    Recruitment & Screening: How will you recruit members? How will you screen members? What are your main selection criteria?

7.    Theoretical Orientation: Which theoretical approach are you taking for your group? (this should provide a focus for the work you plan to be doing and associated major techniques)

8.    Goals: What are the goals for the group as a whole? What are two examples of specific goals for members? Are the goals and objectives specific? How will these goals be accomplished in a group setting?

9.    Treatment Strategies: Based on the theoretical approach you are taking provide 3 treatment strategies or techniques you plan to employ? (These must be appropriate for the content and participants of your group as identified) 

10.  Theoretical Stages: Apply the theoretical stages to your group and show how the stages apply to your particular group and group theoretical perspective. Describe the issues you expect to arise in each stage and how you will deal with them. You will need to show how you plan to address the common issues present at each stage, but specifically show how your theme, setting, and population will make for unique challenges and how you propose to deal with them. Include specific group facilitator techniques and or techniques from your chosen theoretical approach to your group.    

11. Evaluation: Create an objective 8 item evaluation tool for the effectiveness of your group? What evaluation procedures are in your plan? Once the group ends, document the methods you will use to assess the overall effectiveness of the group?
