Throughout the field of biology, it can be helpful to use schematic illustrations such as concept maps to organize how all of the different pieces of the puzzle fit together in relation to one another. This exercise of concept mapping is an excellent way to begin making connections and develop an understanding of the "big picture".

Directions: Create a drawing of a Concept Map using One of the prompts below. Make a hand drawing of your concept map, scan or take a picture and upload it to the discussion post. At minimum, make sure you use the key words listed below to describe your drawing (10 pts).
Prompt 1_In Chapter 1: We learned about evolution, the themes of biology such as evolution, information, organization, energy and matter and interactions. We also examined how evolution accounts for the unity and diversity of life. Key Terms to use: Life, evolution, natural selection, unity of life, three domains, prokaryotic, eukaryotic, biology
Prompt 2_In Chapter 2: We learned about the chemical context of life and how matter consists of chemical elements in pure form and in combinations called compounds. We also learned about the formation and function of molecules and how ionic compounds depend on chemical bonding between atoms. Prompt 3_In Chapter 3: We learned about the four emergent properties of water: cohesion of water, moderation of temperature, floating of ice and the solvent of life. Key Terms to use: Water, Floating Ice, Moderating Temperature, Specific Heat, Cohesion, Versatile Solvent, Evaporative Cooling, hydrogen bonding
