You must reference any sources of information outside of the learning resource. To do so in this assessment you can provide the document / reference name, link and page number.
Although there is no specific word count for this assessment asks, your response to each question must fully address the question.

Assessment must be submitted via Connect LMS.
There is no time limit for this assessment, but it must be submitted by the assessment due dates as outlined in the Unit Study Guide.

Skills in these units must be demonstrated in a workplace or simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in a working environment in this industry. This includes access to:

Assessment Criteria:
To achieve a satisfactory result, your assessor will be looking for your ability to demonstrate the following key skills/tasks/knowledge to an acceptable industry standard:
? Interpret legislation and organisational documentation to establish Operational and Resource Plan requirements.
? Apply analytical skills to determine and document team objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for inclusion into Operational Plans.
? Consult with stakeholders to gather insights and input into plan development.
? Develop operational and resource plans that satisfy organisational objectives.

Number of Attempts:
You will receive up to two (2) attempts at this assessment Part. Should your 1st attempt be unsatisfactory (U), your teacher will provide feedback and will arrange a date for your 2nd attempt. If your 2nd attempt is unsatisfactory (U), or you fail to attend of date scheduled for the 2nd attempt, you will receive an overall unsatisfactory result for this assessment Part. Only one re-assessment attempt may be granted for each assessment Part. For more information, refer to the Student Rules.

Instructions to Assessor Assessors are to:

Task
You are required to undertake planning processes to develop one (1) Operational Plan and three (3) Resource Plans for at least one (1) business or workplace. You may use your own workplace, or that of simulated company SIM Co.
If using your own workplace:
? Please ensure that relevant personnel will be wiling and available to consult and discuss plans to provide feedback, and
? Refer to and provide copies of all relevant organisational policies and procedures to evidence your learning, such as:
– Recruitment and induction
– Training and Development
– Purchasing
– Monitoring and documenting performance

– Organisational Structure (with role descriptions)
– Strategic Alignment
– Overview of team / organisational culture

Scenario
Superior Implements (SIM Co) was founded, by Peter Falconi, a top-notch chef, on the 13th of August 2007, and has grown to be Australia’s leading manufacture of quality professional chef tools. After years of successful operation in NSW, and increasing business in the Northern state, SIM Co established a manufacturing plant in Queensland, at Lytton, Brisbane to better service this market, further relocating the Corporate Headquarters to Milton, Brisbane.
Sales results over the past five (5) years have indicated strong growth in commercial cooking appliances and catering equipment, with an average of 10% sales growth per annum. SIM Co’s wishes to expand their business through establishing a new wholesale outlet in Adelaide within the next 12 months.
The new outlet will include:
? A showroom for customers to view and select products (chef tools such as knives, cookware, utensils and gadgets). Offering a diverse selection of products to suit various culinary needs and preferences.
? Logistics and distribution service area to ensure timely delivery of orders to customers.
? You have been hired as the Outlet Manager to oversee the set up and operation of the new site.
Responsibilities of the Role
? Develop the operational and resource plans for this project
? Coordinate weekly outlet launch meetings
? Contract a marketing consultant to assist in the development of a marketing campaign for the outlet
? Work with the marketing consultant to develop the campaign
? Create a pre-launch promotion to existing business customers
Allocated Budget
? $25,000 to work with a marketing consultant to develop the marketing campaign (authorisation required)
? $8,000 for additional storage facilities (no authorisation needed)
? $4,000 for samples for the pre-launch promotion (no authorisation required)

– There is a total budget of $60,000 for technology and materials and equipment

The new outlet will employee between 15 – 20 staff and a large percentage of these staff will need to be recruited. As such, this will be a newly formed team and skills and knowledge will vary across its members. Other functional areas of the business may see this product as competing for its market share, yet there is strong support for the new product line from the General Manager.

Part A – Analysis and planning
Conducting a “Needs Assessment” is a critical step in the process of setting up the new SIM Co Outlet in Adelaide. It involves gathering information to identify the specific requirements and objectives for the new outlet.
1. Detail the specific actions and activities your business unit will undertake to achieve its strategic objectives by completing the table below:

Part B – Consult with stakeholders
Now that you have undertaken some analysis and planning, you are required to consult with stakeholders to gather their input and insights.

You are to be observed by your assessor in leading one (1) consultation meeting where you are required to:
? Interview key stakeholders to gather their input and insights. Ask open-ended questions to understand their expectations and requirements.
? Identify operational requirements including staffing needs, inventory management, technology infrastructure and logistical considerations.
? Identify potential risks and challenges that may impact the new outlet’s success and establish risk management processes.
? Develop an action plan that outlines the steps required to address the identified needs and objectives.

Part C – Risk management
Risk management is critically important in business for several reasons. It enables companies to protect their assets, maintain financial stability, make informed decisions and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment while minimizing potential negative impacts.
