Assessment task details and instructions
|
Students MUST use the ‘Assessment Criteria on Page 3-4’ to complete the assessment.
You will select a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) from one of the FTSE 100 Index. You must notify your seminar tutor in week 2 of your chosen company and the SBU you will use. The report should demonstrate an understanding of the business’ strategic position using your research and the response from a Generative AI tool. Guidance on AI tools from the list provided in the AI Awareness quiz will be provided in week 2 teaching.
PART 1: Using a Generative AI tool; you will conduct an initial analysis of your chosen company and find out the following:
PART 2: you will discuss the 2 key findings from your AI response to Part 1 and critique where the analysis could be improved and how:
PART 3: Continuing from PART 2, you will improve the analysis using wider research and relevant frameworks and models.
RECOMMENDATIONS – Make recommendation for future strategy for your company based on previous findings, using relevant credible sources to support your work. This assessment should be presented in a REPORT structure using font size 12 and Times New Roman. Harvard APA 7th Ed referencing style should be used throughout the assessment. Diagrams, charts and images are excluded from the word count. An appendix SHOULD be included. Assessment drafts will not be looked at by lecturers, but students have access to Padlet to ask questions on and sessions will be provided for students to ask questions about the assessment with the lecturers

For Part 1 of this assessment you may use tools, software, or features of software which use artificial intelligence to generate content such as text, images or data. This means you may use the tool to answer ONLY Part 1 of the assessment criteria, which MUST be placed in the appendix of your submission.
However, Parts 2 & 3 of the assessment criteria you submit must be your own. Use of AI to generate content to misrepresent your own abilities or mislead your assessor is academic misconduct. When using AI tools, please use University provided tools within the requirements of the University’s ICT Acceptable Use Policy, and do not upload sensitive or personal information.
Word count/ duration (if applicable)
Your assessment should be 1,800 (-10%+) words in length, the contents page, cover page, introduction to the report, bibliography and appendix is not included in the word count.
Students exceeding the stated word count will result in penalised marks.

Feedback arrangements
You can expect to receive feedback 15 working days after submission.
Students will receive an opportunity for formative feedback in timetabled seminars, aimed at helping students develop their work. Summative feedback will be available on BB

Reassessment
If you fail your assessment, and are eligible for reassessment, you will be able to find the date for resubmission on your module site in Blackboard.
For students with accepted personal mitigating circumstances for absence/non submission, this will be your replacement assessment attempt.
For students who FAIL this assessment, the reassessment will be to make the required improvements from your BB feedback. Students should book one-to-one feedback sessions with Module Lead to receive formative feedback before resubmitting. The Reassessment deadline date TBC will be during the Summer Reassessment period.
