Part 1: You are a now a Vitamin applying for a job – Your task is to write your Vitamin Resume for the “Body Company”.
- Select one of the vitamins discussed in your text. Do not select a “vitamin” using a source other than your text as vitamins are strictly defined in the science of nutrition and sometimes other sources will use the term “vitamin” to describe a chemical that is in fact not a vitamin.
- Research the selected vitamin in your text. (See Chapters 10 and 11- use ONLY your text for this assignment – DO NOT use other sources for this assignment).
- Write a one-page resume using a resume style of design/format to present the information you learned from your research. Start with the Vitamin name, objective of the resume, then highlight the most important tasks the vitamin performs for the human body. Write your resume just like you would write a resume to tell a potential employer what you can do for their company and why they need to hire you. One difference though for this resume, be sure to include your limitations as a vitamin:).
- Maximum length: one page, double-spaced.
- See below the information about the “Body Company”.
- Don’t worry – all vitamins will be hired as each is essential for life for the Body Company!
THE BODY COMPANY. We are a large complex and progressive manufacturing company. We operate seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. We even work while you are sleeping. We produce many different products, have thousands of product lines and must maintain highly technical equipment.
Have fun, be innovative and make your prospective employer see the need to hire YOU! Included below are some questions you might consider as you get ideas and prepare your resume:
- How can you assist our company?
- What can you do for us that is unique (cannot be done by another nutrient)? Why should we hire you? (Why you are needed for specific “job(s)” that are essential for the health of the body “company”?)
- Do you work well with others – explain? (What other nutrients do you work well with? Do you “team” with other nutrients for any of your “job” functions? Explain.)
- What problems can you help us fix? (What happens to the body if this particular vitamin is deficient and how does this vitamin help to fix or prevent the problem – what is the process?)
- How much time can you work? (Are you needed daily? Can we get too much of you? If so, what happens? Are you toxic? )
Cite your sources in the “References” section of your resume.
Good luck and enjoy being an essential nutrient… each one o
