FRAME FOR RESEARCH

Individual Research Paper

Each student will submit a graduate quality research paper using the standards referenced below. The length of the paper should be 8-10 pages and contain at least five (5) reference sources from peer-reviewed journal articles. The research area will be chosen by the student and approved by the instructor in class no later than the Sept/21 midnight. The research paper should identify and critically analyze operations management and leadership issues, practices and future developments. It should concentrate on one industry or field such as defense contractors, service providers, health care, not-for-profit organizations, education, food service or construction.

An example of a specific topic: “Managing Operations Using RFID Technology in the Retail Industry”. See grading guidelines below.

Standards for Written Work: Term Paper and Group Paper

Format (10%): double-spaced, one-inch borders, cover page with professional references. Indent paragraphs and do not add extra lines between them. Research papers should be in APA format. Examples of APA are available online at www.beadsland.com/weapas for online references and www.apa.org. See the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th Ed.

Grammar (10%): Correct writing and use of the English language is expected of all students. This is consistent with the guidelines established in the “writing across the curriculum” directive. The instructor does not expect college level papers to have grammatical problems. If this becomes a major distraction to the work, the paper will be rejected and no credit will be issued.

Content (80%): A successful paper will present complete research of the topic or case study, a synthesis of the major concepts, discussion of those concepts in today’s terms applying the principles learned in the class.

Grading Guidelines for Writing (Graduate Level):

Students are expected to demonstrate writing skills in describing, analyzing and evaluating ideas and experiences. Written material must follow specific standards regarding citations of authors’ work within the text and references at the end of the paper. Students are encouraged to use the services of the University’s Writing Center when preparing materials. Grades will be assigned for written material in accordance with the University catalog and the following general criteria.

In my case. I need to do an essay in around 8 pages (but could change, not less than 5), plus presentation page, contents page and references, about:

“SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AT WALMART”.

I will supply some ( 8 articles in pdf format) to do the research, and think that we could subdivide the research in, but could be change as well the researcher decided:

o Introduction

o Market Analysis

o Green Supply Chain Management (GSMC):

o Implementing GSCM

o Performance Measures for GSMC

o Recommendation for GSCM

o Summary. Conclusions (critical thinking)

o References
