This project constitutes 50% of the overall assessment for the module, BM1987. The project covers all topics with a focus on Introduction to Employment Act, salary and types of deductions and other conditions of service, as well as other statutory provisions. It is an individual assignment designed to give you a first-hand experience of applying the knowledge attained in the topics above to solve a case study developed for academic purposes.
1. Read the case studies.
2. Provide an introduction to the background and identify parts of the
Employment Act and other laws and legislation relating to each case study, describing clearly their relevance to the case facts.
3. Assuming that you are the union leader, present in a written report the
relevant issues raised by each case study with clear reference to the
provisions of the Employment Act and other laws and legislation that were
violated. Comment with reference to relevant areas of legislation, rules and
concepts where applicable.
4. In reference to the Employment Act, other statutory provisions or workplace guidelines, provide at least one (1) recommendation for each case study on the company’s employment practices that will prevent future similar violations and promote harmonious employee-employer relationship
