This individual assignment is designed to provide you with the opportunity to
apply and integrate your knowledge on the concept and theories of employee
relations management through crafting of a written report.
Select a company and obtain a copy of the Collective Agreement (CA) that is
valid as of the date of issue of this ICA.
a) Summary of the company’s profile, including the company’s history, key business, employee strength, and information on the company’s trade union.
b) Identify ONE (1) potential issue or challenge in labor relations faced by the company, providing strong rationale and evidence.
c) Select any TWO (2) existing CA clauses, and propose changes to be made to the clauses, providing strong rationale and evidence to justify your proposal.
d) Propose ONE (1) new clause to be added to the CA, providing strong rationale and evidence to justify your proposal (the clause may not be relating to grievance handling process, which was covered in ICA1).
e) Suggest a comprehensive employee participation program by detailing how you will gather employees’ involvement and feedback to prepare for the 3 Official (Open) upcoming CA negotiation which will include your suggestions from parts (c) and (d) above. In detailing your plan, you may include elaborations such as a timeline, rationale and potential challenges and sensitivities amongst various stakeholders.
